This month an illustration of mine will be traveling the country in the seat-back pockets of Southwest Airlines. This image was commissioned by their in-flight magazine "Spirit" for a feature on the discovery of Neanderthal DNA in the human genome. According to the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, some humans have up to %4 Neanderthal DNA.

New York Times: "Bearizona"
I have an illustration in today's New York Times. The image was commissioned for the travel series "Out Here" to go along with a story about "Bearizona," an Arizona based nature preserve called where drivers can see wildlife without leaving their cars. You can read the story online here, or find it in print in the national section. Thanks again to Anne Leigh for the great assignment!

Seattle Met: Gaming for Good
This month in Seattle, video game designers will be participating in a 5 week "hackathon," volunteering their time and expertise in the hopes of creating a video game to promote disaster preparedness. The event was inspired by the earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan, and is being sponsored by Geeks Without Bounds. This illustration was commissioned by the Seattle Met for an article about the event in this month's issue.
