Letters on Gun Control
This illustration will run in the New York Times Op-Ed section today, alongside arguments for and against increased gun control. The letters were written in response to essays by Bob Herbert and Nicholas D. Kristoph, columnists for the Op-Ed section, who have made a case for new gun regulations following the events of January 8th in Tuscon, Arizona. Read the letters here.

Taser Backlash in Oregon
Happy New Year, everybody! I have an illustration in the latest issue of the Willamette Week. The piece was commissioned for a story about the use of stun guns in the Portland police force. To promote officer accountability, it has been suggested that tasers be outfitted with cameras that record the situations in which they are used.Read the article here.

Travel Log: Free Coffee
What compels me to drink every cup of coffee I am offered? I will be stuck in the middle seat for the next five hours and I really don't need to be any more alert. The chances of it being amazing are pretty slim.
Travel Log: Vertical Space
From my cramped seat, I ponder the cabin's unused vertical space. There must be a way to capitalize on this unclaimed resource. Hammocks perhaps? I would pay extra for that.
Travel Log: Life Raft Criteria
To pass the time I am mentally assembling my life-raft team. No one with a suit jacket or ironic mustache is making the cut. Sorry guys, but I'm looking for survival skills. One arts professional per island is going to be plenty.
